Mary Ryan Brown is an ambitious rose-sniffer. Born, raised, and still residing in Mississippi, Mary Ryan both mocks and participates in the cultural carnival of the Deep South. She loves to establish patterns, then disturb them. Tell stories, then revise them in real time. Flexible and eager to personalize her performance according to context, she is just as comfortable at a comedy club as she is hosting or speaking at a corporate event.
With a forthcoming Dry Bar Comedy special and recent appearance on the Nateland Showcase, Mary Ryan is proving that clean comedy can still be biting, cerebral, and absurd.
Mary Ryan’s Story
Mary Ryan Brown began writing and performing standup comedy in 2022, after a bout of postpartum depression sent her into a spiral of artistic renewal. In 2024, she began posting satirical caricatures of Southern women on Instagram. In these first years of her comedy career, Mary Ryan has shot a forthcoming Dry Bar Comedy special, performed on the Nateland Showcase, headlined several sold-out shows, opened for national headliners, and more. In 2026, she’s launching the Be Blessed Tour, a tongue-in-cheek romp that both mocks and celebrates the South.
